  2. 2.Do you need more room? Do you have a growing family? Are Mom and Dad moving in? Are children grown and moving on?  What about the holidays? Room for guests?  Do you wish you had more detailing in your home?

  3. 3.Life-style: Do you spend most of your time at home? Do you work at home? Does your home office need a separate entry? Do you entertain? What about holiday meals? Where do you spend most of your time?

  4. 4. Are you happy with your Kitchen? Your Master Bedroom?

  5. 5.Do you want to connect more to the outdoors?

  6. 6.Appearance: What should the  addition/renovation/new home look like?

  7. 7.What do you envision that you don’t have now?

  8. 8.Budget?

  1. 9.How soon would you like to start?

  2. 10.What about design styles? Do you prefer contempory architecture or a more traditional look?

Here is a website I found which I liked for its general overview of the different housing styles in America.

And here is a website I like for the nice images which are categorized by substance and style. For instance, if I input “arts and crafts entry”, the page which opens up is:

We generally like to use the AIA contract, but are open to an equivalent alternative. We will bring one with us for you to return to us once you’ve gotten a chance to look it over so we can get started.

Once we have a solid understanding of how your house will be used and get a feel for your design sensibilities and what a comfortable budget is, we begin to develop sketches, going over them with you, as they evolve. This allows you to be proactive and help steer the design.

In order to make the best home for you, we like to listen.  Please come prepared to talk about your hobbies, pets, furniture, how you spend your evenings, your budget, you name it. Bring photos, magazine articles, your favorite website, sketches. We try to make it easy for you to articulate what you want by asking a few questions like:
